I guess I'm trying this again
So I know I have been neglecting this for a year and frankly I was embarrassed to begin again but ya gotta start somewhere... it's been a crazy busy awesome year and I have been striving to make my dreams realities so here is just a few things from august. Maybe I'll do a memory lane survey of this year later because it was an interesting one worth documenting :P
August 2011- trip home, visited grandma in Reno and other random things around SB...:
had to get rid of some stuff so I had a huge yard sale... I miss my dressing table, sniff
spoils from the sb farmers market... the mushroom guy rocks!
don't know why this came upside down but it was a crafty book from back in the dizay
the value center now called Ecothrift... had to make the pilgrimage when I'm home
elk sandwich at Cabella's yummmmmm

The Latest
So I totally failed at keeping this thing updated this semester. I shoulda known I would be swamped with school but I will try to make up for it now! I pulled pretty good grades in all my classes so I didn't spend much time doing projects but here are some of the things I did accomplish:
This is what happens when you try and keep with childish family traditions... they turn a little perverted...
Meet Olga
and Sven
Ok I'm still stoked on this. I made dubstep inspired t-shirts for me and my friends going to a Borgore concert which was epically rad to say the least. Then after he performed I took my shirt off and got him to sign it for me!!! I think he dug the dinosaurs and laser beams
And this is what I accomplished in my drawing class. It was only fundamentals which wasn't super exciting but at least I got some good work out of it:
So I have a month and a half off of school and I intend to fill this with more creative endeavors and hopefully start selling some stuff too!
Also... something to look forward to... in the Spring I will be taking nothing but Studio Art classes so I will be generating a lot of artwork! :D

Documentation
I have been trying to photographically document my life a lot more lately. Make the moments last I guess. The Pirate Faire was RAD! I had lots of fun and got the 2 things I desperately wanted last year and I thought... "Hey I can stand eating nothing but rice for the rest of the month cuz those are just too awesome and I've wanted them for a while..." yes that was my logic so a fox tail and bunny cuffs are MINE!!!! I admit I feel a little guilty for buying 2 animal products but hey that's what they did back in the day and I can't imagine myself buying any other animal product except for leather... and food... you know the usual stuff

Sooo ya today I hung out in the harbor and took a bunch of pics just of boats and stuff

and here's that paisley scrap bag that I made a bit ago...

My street is awesome
For those who haven't heard the stories of how awesome my street is let me give you a little recap. So I've been livin on this street a little over a year which I love for not only the very convenient location in relation to downtown and school but also the wonderful free stuff that appears on the sidewalks. When I first moved in there were some things that I wanted like a cat tree for Gink, some chairs for my kitchen, a lap desk, one of those breakfast in bed tables and new clothes of course. Well I walked down the street and found all of these things that someone decided to dump because they were moving. SCORE! Another day I walked out my door and right in front of me was a great toadstool... quite literally- it's a mushroom shaped stool :) I've found all sorts of great stuff when walking home on my street. Yesterday I found a great pair of Lucky brand jeans in a great wash that fit like a glove! My street's reputation lives on!

So despite having tons of clothes that practically overflow from my closet and drawers I constantly feel like I have nothing to wear. I like everything I own but I feel like my style is slowly evolving and what I see myself wearing in my mind is not what I have available to me. Sigh... well that's my projects theme for today. I'm thinkin lots of white tops, zipper sided skirt, maybe some leggings, try out some utilitarian style options... I love things that are convertible or 2 in 1 sort of things. Also want to make some piratey apparel cuz I'm going to the pirate fair tomorrow, which is also talk like a pirate day YAR. Jam packed weekend, it's great!
I'm planning on doing some silkscreening next week if I can finish my film positives... I'm too addicted to details...
This is an artsy pic:

my Alfredo sauce made a cool pattern in the dish that was too cool to wash immediately... I need to make something with this design
case and point: inspiration is everywhere!

some pictures... as promised
SO busy busy busy with school and friends and projects but I love it! I like being involved in lots of things as long as I get enough sleep :)
So since the semester has started I've been really sad that I'm not taking printmaking right now. It interfered with all the classes that I HAD TO take so I've been trying to think of ways to stay involved... DUH go to open lab and just work on projects! The creative energy in the print lab is so brilliant and talking with my fellow printmakers is so fun and inspiring! Just giving myself a chunk of time when all I can do is something printmaking related makes me so artistically productive. When I'm at my house I'm always working on a zillion things at once and so I have all these works in progress just waiting for their time to come alive. In art history today, Larson was talking about Da Vinchi and how he had so many ideas and not enough time to complete them, so there are all these brilliant sketches and works in progress of his that never amounted to anything... That's how I feel/ what I'm terrified of. I have so much inspiration stored in my mind, notebooks and sketchbooks that I'm afraid I won't have the opportunity to execute them all. I wish I could be one of those "big idea artists" like Koonz or Hirst and have a workshop with people executing my ideas for me... but I think half the fun is in the craft. N E WAY...
So here's some photos of the things I mentioned last time:
>
feather earrings
headband/necklace
my pet purse!
jersey fringey scarf
hey, I can do that too! This scarf was inspired by this one one Etsy (see below)
I guess side by side they don't look very similar but I used the same technique and type of fabric
Tune in next time for some prints and more! I found a bunch of great wood and so hopefully I will be cranking out woodcuts like nobody's business. I want to make a an awesome book like Evelyn's. Tonight I shall carve... after I finish my periodical report.
Cheers!

Not much lately
Soo I must admit I've been lazy and uninspired to update. Not because I haven't been making things... cuz it never stops. But taking pictures of things can be time consuming... especially when I have to model it all. :( But soon I will have a dress form so then at least that problem will be solved. I hate having a post without visual aid but you're just gonna have to wait for pictures. I'm sorry.
Oh and I get a bit random and rambely... you don't have to read it all but consider yourself warned.
Anyways, what have I been doing a month? I've been making feather jewelry and hair accessories! I'm trying to find a way to sanitize all the feather I collect because I have found a lot but I am opposed to putting them anywhere near my head until I know that they are disease and lice free. But I have some beautiful store-bought feathers to work with for now.
Let's see what else... bandeau tops, lots of them. and shorts for the last days of summer (although fall is creeping up and ruining this plan... I seriously thought it was going to rain today :(
I have also been trying to feed the flame that is my current obsession with adding white and cream and beige to my wardrobe. It's hard after being so dedicated to black for the past 8 years but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Black is just so easy and forgiving though... I must say I relapse when I'm sick of thinking about matching.
I went to Goodwill the other day and got 2 things I am always on the lookout for: yoga pants and cardigans. I just hated that both pairs of yoga pants I owned were black but now I have a lovely olive pair with a fox on the butt. teehee I decided one can never have too many pairs of yoga pants, they are just soooo comfy! And cardigans, don't get me started. I got a nice blue one which is really soft and I added a hood to it (that detaches with buttons). Hmm what else, a striped button up and an awesome tapestry that I hung above my bed in a half tent like effect.
Well that all I've got to report except the projects I am working on this week:
*Paisley scraps school bag
*coin and skull necklaces
*more feather hair pieces and headbands
*brown plaid shorts
*******photos coming soon I promise!*********
